The first two days of school are staggered for Kindergarten students. This means that 1/2 of the class comes on the first staggered day and the other 1/2 comes on the second day of school. This gives the teachers an opportunity to get to know each child and makes the transition to Kindergarten more comforting and positive for each child. The two staggered days are Thursday, July 21, 2011 and Friday, July 22, 2011. Your child will receive a letter no later than Saturday, July 9, 2011 with their teacher assignment and staggered day.
Kindergarten Orientation will be held on Tuesday, July 19th from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm after meet your teacher. This is for parents only. Our after-school staff will watch siblings in the cafeteria during the orientation, however children must be potty trained in order to stay with the afterschool staff (This is free of charge).
Homeroom and class supply lists will be posted on the front window on Friday, July 15, 2011 after 5:00 pm. Please feel free to come by and see whom your teacher and new classmates will be. Be sure to bring paper and pencil to write down your supply lists. Supply lists will also be available online via your teacher's webpage. Go to our website at http://www.nhcs.k12.nc.us/eaton/, look under teacher web pages and find your teacher. Supply lists will not be available online until 5:00 pm on Friday, July 15th.
Meet the Teacher (Grades K-5) will be held on Tuesday, July 19th, 2011. Kindergarten students and parents can "Meet the Teacher" from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Grades 1-5 can meet their teacher anytime between 4:00 pm - 6 pm. This is a time to drop by, meet the teacher and take a look at your new classroom. Individual conferences can be scheduled at a later date.
